Ride the Train? Grab a latte at Quaker Coffee? Then you’ve seen the work that’s been done to return the Wynnewood train station to its original grace and beauty. The restoration and beautification of the historic Wynnewood Train Station engages a host of neighbors and volunteers in ongoing clean-up, fix-up activities, including a team of dedicated gardeners who, each year, design, plant, and nurture the grounds surrounding the station. Working together, WCA volunteers, community members, SEPTA, Boy Scout Troop 176, and elected officials have made this ‘Gem of the Main Line’ an inviting welcome to the Wynnewood community. The Wynnewood Civic Association would like to express our boundless gratitude to SEPTA for their continued cooperation and generosity in the ongoing repair and maintenance of the Wynnewood Train Station. Working with the WCA’s indefatigable Wayne Diamond, landscape work and mulch deliveries happen regularly, water lines have been installed, new concrete steps have been constructed, and repair work, faithful to the historical style of the station continues. This refurbished resource now plays a role in other WCA activities. In October, the train station hosted the first Wynnewood Civic Association Community Yard Sale. This spring we’d like to host a plant exchange. We invite you to join us at one of our Train Station events to share in the work, dig in the dirt, and join in the conversations!
